What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumb and fingers to work on these reflex areas. It is a specialized modality and should not be confused with foot massage.
How Does Reflexology Promote Healing?
During a reflexology treatment you will go from being in your sympathetic nervous system to your parasympathetic nervous system. This is similar to REM sleep, except you're awake. It is while your body is in this relaxed, parasympathetic zone that it is capable of healing itself and fixing what needs to be fixed. Reflexology helps the body return to homeostasis.
What Happens at a Reflexology Session?
Pattie comes to your home, office or the location of your choice and brings her "special equipment" an anti-gravity chair that is so comfortable you may never want to get up again! The session will start with some questions regarding your health. For the reflexology treatment Pattie will touch and manipulate different areas of your feet and/or hands (and, if requested, your ears). Although the pressure applied will be the same for each area touched, some areas may seem more tender to you than others. This tenderness indicates that there is an issue or blockage in the corresponding gland, organ or body part.
What Does it Feel Like?
Although it is different for each person, nearly all of Pattie's clients report that reflexology is an amazing experience that leaves them feeling rested, relaxed and rejuvenated. The "ultimate in relaxing experiences," the effects of which can often be felt for days.
